TurboSlim ChronoActiv

Turboslim Chronoactiv for Forte PharmaTurboSlim ChronoActiv is a dietary supplement produced by the French company Forté Pharma.

They specialize in weight loss and weight management products, including fat burners, detox drinks and fat trappers.  This product is classified as a fat burner, and has been on the market since 2004.

Unlike some other products, it does not claim to produce miraculous or extraordinary results in either the speed or amount of weight consumers will lose.  It claims its formulas are based on cell nutrition research by company founder Doctor Yann Rougier.

Positives: Highly respected company behind it

Negatives: The formula is yet unproven and is not in the same leagie as some of the recent additions to the market

What Is TurboSlim ChronoActiv and How Does It Work

TurboSlim ChronoActiv is a fat burner that purports to work in synch with the body’s natural biorhythms.  It is basically a 2 pill system.  One is taken in the morning before breakfast and one in the evening before dinner.  The website clearly asserts that the supplement is to be taken in combination with a reduced calorie diet and exercise.

Key Ingredients

Turbo SLim tabletsThese ingredients were listed on the official website, but other sites  list additional ingredients and one cannot be certain if the official website was just listing main ingredients, or if the formula has changed.  This confusion should be a cause for concern among potential consumers.

The daytime tablet contains Green Tea, Zinc, and Chromium.  Some studies have shown a relationship between green tea extract and weight loss.  Zinc is an essential mineral that can affect metabolism in the body, among other things.  Chromium can help control blood sugar levels.

The night-time tablet contains OXYLIA TOTAL, which is described as “an exclusive natural origin complex from Japanese Research, made of Phaseolus, olive tree, rosemary, Ipomea batatas and CoQ10.”

  • Phaseolus is also known as bean or wild bean.  Its effect on weight loss is disputed in the scientific community.
  • Olive fruit, oil and leaves are all used to treat various ailments and conditions.  It is uncertain which of these the listing olive tree refers to.
  • Ipomea batatas is also known as Sweet Potato and is a rich source of dietary fibre, anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins.  What role it plays in this compound is uncertain.
  • Rosemary is a herb whose leaves and oil are used in food, beverages and for treating digestive conditions, among other things.
  • CoQ1, or Co Enzyme Q10 is found naturally in the body.  As a coenzyme it aids enzymes in food digestion and other functions.  In dietary supplements it is commonly touted as providing increased energy and aiding in exercise recovery.

Despite the effectiveness of individual ingredients on certain conditions, it is impossible to tell how much of each ingredient this product contains, and if that amount approaches the effective dose.

Any Success Stories

It is notable that despite being on the market for 9 years there are very little testimonials or success stories available.  The official website lists none.  A major online retailer only shows three reviews.  Searches elsewhere yielded nothing.

ChronoActive Side Effects

This product is not recommended for pregnant or nursing women.  Some of the ingredients have been reported to cause side effects, but without knowing their concentration or amounts it is hard to say if they would cause the same side effects in this product.  TurboSlim ChronoActiv claims to be naturally derived, but individuals can still experience sensitivity, interactions or side effects from natural products.

[warning]Among all the products listed, possible side effects from the following ingredients should be discussed with a doctor prior to starting this supplement:

  • CoQ10 – elevated liver enzymes, rash, abdominal pain, more.
  • Chromium – kidney damage, liver damage, low blood sugar and effects on brain chemistry, more.
  • Rosemary – could worsen seizure disorders. Sufferers are advised not to use Rosemary.
  • Olive – interacts with medicines for diabetes, and medicines for diabetes.[/warning]

Bottom Line… Is It Recommended

Short answer: no.  TurboSlim ChronoActiv comes from an established company and has a well done web site. Unfortunately, it is more style than substance.  The product does not provide enough details on the ingredients or their amounts.

Additionally, there is a section on the website labelled Scientifical Studies, but the content of this tab only references an 8 week study of 80 people who provided self-assessments.   There are no links to or even references of studies in peer reviewed medical publications.  It doesn’t provide any concrete evidence of its effectiveness, nor does it adequately demonstrate client success stories.

Finally, the product is expensive.  It recommends taking a one month course, but it is sold in boxes of only 28 pills, a two week supply of 14 day pills and 14 night pills.  The real cost is around £60 ($100) for a 28 day supply of 2 boxes, sold separately.
