Xipisan Review – Positives and Negatives

Xipisan fat binderXipisan is a fat binder produced by the Singapore-based Famous Rainbow Corporation and marketed under their Natural Health brand name.

The company’s record to date is as colourful as their name and many things suggest products marketed by the Famous Rainbow Corporation may be best avoided. In 2010, at least eight complaints were made about the company and Famous Rainbow was reprimanded by the Advertising Standards Authority for making false claims about Xipisan.

The company used to have a dedicated Xipisan website, but this has recently been removed from their servers and customers who try to visit the site are now automatically transferred to a website that proclaims the prowess of the company’s latest product, a fat binder called Rasva. Until recently Xipisan was also available from Amazon, but Amazon’s Xipisan sales pages have also been set to divert to pages selling Rasva fat binder.

At the time of this review we could only find one site that still appears to be selling Xipisan, so it appears as if Famous Rainbow are no longer actively marketing the product.

Positives: Employs the use of a very effective mechanic of action (fat binding)

Negatives: Appears to have been withdrawn or merged with another product

What is Xipisan and How Does It Work?

Xipisan websiteXipisan is a fat binder. Fat binders are deigned to assist weight loss by reducing the amount of fat the body absorbs from food. They achieve this by absorbing ingested fat before it can be assimilated by the body. Once the fat is safely locked inside the fat binder it is carried through the intestines and passed as stool because the body is incapable of digesting fat binding compounds.

The theory behind such compounds is sound and any compound that can prevent fat being digested may prove helpful for preventing an increased amount of stored body fat, but fat binders do not help the body to burn existing fat cells, or to burn off excess carbohydrates, so they are rarely effective as a stand-alone solution to weight loss.

Key Ingredients

Xipisan contains just one active ingredient—chitin.

Chitin is a vegetable based ingredient, so it is, at least, a natural product. The compound is known to be high in fiber, and fiber is known to increase the time it takes for the body to digest food, but there is no scientific evidence to support chitin’s alleged fat binding abilities.

Dosage

According to the only remaining sales outlet, two tablets should be taken three times a day 30 minutes before eating. Should they wish to do so dieters have the option of reducing the dose to one tablet, taken three times a day.

Customer Feedback

We were unable to find any customer feedback. It seems likely that Amazon customer feedback may have been particularly interesting, but this is unobtainable now that the old sales page has been removed from the Amazon marketplace.

The fact that customers have complained to the Advertising Standards Authority about false claims speaks volumes though, and should tell consumers everything they need to know about Xipisan and the Famous Rainbow Corporation.

Side Effects and Health Issues

The fact that fat binders cannot be digested can result in several unpleasant side effects including.

  • Stomach and intestinal discomfort
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea

Chitin is also known to interfere with some medications.

[warning]Pregnant and nursing mothers are advised to consult a medical practitioner before using Xipisan or any other weight loss product. Anyone who has any known medical issues or any health concerns would also be wise to consult a doctor before using this or any other product that contains the chitin ingredient.[/warning]

Do We Recommend, The Bottom Line

Everything about this product screams stay away.

  • Expensive
  • No Guarantee
  • Not tested
  • Contains an unproven ingredient
  • May cause side effects

The fact the product has been slammed by the ASA is of far greater concern though. It suggests the manufacturers are not trustworthy. The fact that the Purple Rainbow Corporation were so quick to drop the product and replace it with a similar product also tells a story because if Xipisan had proved to be an effective aid to weight loss the company would not have been so quick to take such an action.

Xipisan is not a recommended product. Many better alternatives are available.

Where To Buy Xipisan – Purchasing options

There appears to be the only site still selling the product and if the Famous Rainbow Corporation have put a halt to its production it seems likely that the sole supplier will only continue selling Xipisan until their present stocks run out.

According to reports a pack of 60 capsules costs nearly £24.95 and additional charges for postage and packing results in the consumer being required to pay nearly £30 for a ten day supply of Xipisan. This is expensive and no guarantee is offered.
